Fan Lei

Fan Lei works in computer science and mathematics, with research spanning mathematics education, knowledge engineering, information-technology education and AI education.
He has led or taken part in four national projects, including grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and major National 863 Programme projects, alongside dozens of municipal research projects. He has published close to 70 research and conference papers — more than 20 in English, three indexed in SCI and over 20 in EI or ISTP — and contributed to twelve monographs or textbooks, one industry report and one translated work. He has repeatedly served on the drafting and revision of school curriculum standards and on textbook writing.
He took his master's degree in 1988 and his doctorate in pure mathematics in 2001, and has been a professor at Capital Normal University since 2005, supervising close to 60 master's and doctoral students in educational technology and mathematics education.
He is joint editor-in-chief of the People's Education Press and China Cartographic Publishing Group senior secondary information technology textbook (2017 curriculum standard edition), which won both a first and a second prize in the 2021 National Outstanding Textbook awards for basic education. He sits on the Ministry of Education expert groups for the senior secondary information technology curriculum standard and the compulsory-education information technology curriculum standard, and on the technology sub-committee of the Ministry's basic-education teaching advisory committee.
