2025 Greater Bay Area Youth AI Innovation Competition Held in Hong Kong

The 2025 Greater Bay Area Youth AI Innovation Competition was held on 26 July 2025 at Bauhinia Academy, Hong Kong. Students from the Mainland and Hong Kong competed across two events — "IITC: Creating the Future" and "AIGC: Imagining the Future".

The competition was organised by the Youth IT Training Project (Hong Kong Branch) and IITS Hong Kong, jointly hosted by the Hong Kong Robotics Education Resources Association and the Hong Kong Maker Association, with support from the Youth IT Training Project's head station. More than a hundred primary and secondary students took part, from Hong Kong, Beijing, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Jiangmen, working across AI programming, image generation, creative design and human–machine collaboration.

The IITC event tested intelligent programming and robot design through a series of task challenges, assessing both technical execution and problem-solving. The AIGC event drew on recent generative AI tools, asking students to create images, text and video — rewarding cross-disciplinary work and creative expression.

The judging panel was drawn from AI academics, university teaching staff and industry technical leads.

The organisers built in an exchange session, bringing Hong Kong and Mainland students together to talk about their work.

The team from HKBUAS Wong Kam Fai won Best Innovation. Zhuhai Dahua Education — Yung Wing and Cho Yiu Catholic Primary School shared Best Teamwork, for collaboration and project management.

Dr Tsui Yin-kam of the Hong Kong Branch and Ms Yau Lam of IITS Hong Kong described the competition as more than a contest of skill — a platform for exchange across regions, disciplines and cultures — and said they would continue to develop youth AI education across the Greater Bay Area.
