Xie Guangming

Xie Guangming is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the College of Engineering at Peking University. He took his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees at Tsinghua University in 1996, 1998 and 2001, and held a postdoctoral position at Peking University from 2001 to 2003.

He has led six projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including key projects, and contributed to several under the National 973 and 863 Programmes. His awards include the National Natural Science Award and the Ministry of Education's Natural Science Award.

He serves as a reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation, as deputy director of the robot competition committee of the Chinese Association of Automation, and on committees of the China Simulation Federation and the China Productivity Promotion Association. He is an editorial board member of Scientific Reports, the International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, the Journal of Information and Systems Science and Mathematical Problems in Engineering, and of two Chinese journals on robotics and ordnance automation.

His research covers the dynamics and control of complex systems, bio-inspired robotics and multi-robot collaboration. He has published more than 100 papers, over 100 of them in SCI-indexed journals including Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, Scientific Reports, PLOS ONE and Physical Review E, and holds more than ten invention patents. He founded the International Underwater Robot Competition and chairs the International Underwater Robot Federation, and his work has been covered by CCTV's national news programme and by other broadcasters.
