Zhao Weidong

Zhao Weidong is an associate professor in the School of Computer Science at Fudan University. He teaches machine learning and deep learning, core big-data technologies, and business intelligence and analytics to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and was a visiting scholar at New York University in 2011.

His business intelligence course was recognised as a Shanghai municipal high-quality course and selected for the CMOOC alliance's blended-learning reform programme, and won a second prize in the 2013 Shanghai higher-education teaching achievement awards.

His research covers applied machine learning and big-data analysis. He has led more than 30 projects, including two grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a sub-project of the National Key R&D Programme, a Shanghai Pujiang Talent award and industry collaborations. He has published over 100 papers in journals including Knowledge and Information Systems, Information Processing & Management, Information Systems Frontiers, Intelligent Data Analysis and Applied Intelligence, and written more than ten books, among them Machine Learning, Machine Learning Case Studies and Python Machine Learning in Practice. He received a second prize for scientific and technological progress in Shanghai in 2015, and is a CDA level-3 certified data scientist, a certified machine-learning instructor for Tencent Cloud and Baidu Cloud, and an Alibaba Cloud MVP.
